Sarah Landmesser is a textile artist, ceramicist, and painter born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. Once the textile capital of the world, it is a fitting origin for an artist who sits at the intersection of textiles, craft, and fine art.
Landmesser fell in love with painting, drawing, and ceramics as a child. At 16, she discovered weaving through a grant initiative dedicated to furthering textile arts in upstate South Carolina. She went on to study at the University of Georgia, earning a BFA in Textile Design alongside a BBA in Marketing, and has since built a practice that lives between all three disciplines.
Her work is a celebration of color and surface — bold, optimistic, and deeply pattern-driven. Moving fluidly between painting, ceramics, and design, Landmesser approaches each medium through the same lens: the surface as an opportunity for pattern. Her vessels become canvases for painted pattern; handmade tiles become an extension of her love for interiors, approached as pattern filled grids.
Landmesser's work has been exhibited across the Southeast and most recently in New York City. A passion for fine art, color, and surface design led her to begin her career in textiles and interiors at a design showroom in Atlanta, Georgia. She currently lives and works in Columbus, Ohio, where she works full time as an apparel textile designer while maintaining an active fine art practice.
